siMMinTM : logiciel de calcul en ligne du bilan en zinc de porcs en croissance
Résumé
Copper and zinc are essential nutrients that usually have to be supplemented to pig diets to meet the animal requirements, but they are also used at high levels as a growth promoter. As a result, Zn and Cu concentrations in animal waste may be high, which leads to a risk of accumulation in the soil when pig manure is spread on arable land. Moreover, technological treatments of pig slurry concentrate zinc in the solid fraction, and this Zn by‐product content may exceed the ceiling value authorised for use as an organic fertiliser. Reducing Zn excretion is possible with dietary manipulations. Some scientific methods to measure zinc balance in pig farms have been created during recent years and can be more widely communicated to the international pig industry. The software siMMinTM has been developed with the support of INRA. This tool makes possible to measure easily the improvement in the total reduction of zinc in animal waste after changes in some variables (growth performance, feeding program, Zn content in the diets). Very intuitive and easily usable in any pig farm whatever the condition, it has been online since January 2013 at http://www.animine.eu/simmin/ and is available for all the stakeholders involved in pig production.
