A total of 68 meteorological stations were used to detect possible climatic trends in France during the period 1950-97. 8 monthly parameters were analysed: maximum and minimum temperatures, thermal amplitude, mean temperature, precipitation, number of frost days (T minimum < 0°C), of duration sunshine and potential evapotranspiration (ETP, Penman formula). Mean values were calculated for the year. The climatic data revealed: no general change in precipitation, thermal amplitude, of duration sunshine or ETP; where a significant increase in mean annual temperature (0,9°C), minimum temperature (1,1°C), august temperature (2,0°C) and minimum august temperature (1,9°C) was noted. The period 1990-97 was the warmest since 1950. An average annuals of 18 days decrease in the number of winter frost days (-10 to –26 days) was also observed for 17 of the 33 thermal stations studied, but no change in the frequency of frost days occurred in may. No simple correlations appeared between changes in temperature and duration of sunshine or precipitation
