Using Bézier patches of bidegree (1,2) for corn leaf modeling

Résumé

For agricultural studies, the problem of efficiently representing corn leaves by Bézier patches of bidegree (1,2) is considered. A toolbox of algorithms for the main operations including: approximation of a 3D curve by splines of parabolas, fast computation of intersection and self-intersection tests, approximate computation of normals and areas is provided.
