Occurrence and diversity of tree microhabitats in managed/unmanaged forests and relationships with taxonomic biodiversity

Diversité des micro-habitats liés aux arbres dans les forêts exploitées ou non et relations avec la biodiversité

Résumé

This talk deals with two research axes, aimed at increasing our knowledge on the occurrence and diversity of microhabitats in forest ecosystems, and their relationships with associated biodiversity. First, we looked for factors explaining the occurrence and diversity of microhabitats in forest ecosystems, like tree key features (tree species and girth thresholds) and the impact of sylviculture at the stand scale. As a reference, the availability and dynamics of microhabitats throughout the sylvigenetic cycle was analyzed in long-unmanaged forests in the Pyrenees mountains. Second, we assessed whether microhabitats are drivers of taxonomic biodiversity at the stand scale, using saproxylic beetles and hoverflies as response groups.
