How to achieve growth: innovation in the seafood industry, with focus on the EU

This paper looks at innovation practices, and in particular product innovation in the seafood sector in the EU. It Aims to understand what the trends in product innovation across the European seafood sector are and how product innovation is combined with other strategies for improving the competitive position of the firm. Data sources were the Mintel’s GNPD database and case studies of successful and unsuccessful innovations involving main EU produced species from major producer countries. The findings shed light on the multifacetted product-innovation practice in the seafood industry and establish links with process-, marketing- and management innovation.
